About Me

Over the past 10 years, I have designed, developed, and project managed over 300 web sites, e-learning projects, and rich internet applications for many large-scale clients including Yahoo!, Rolex, Dell, Home Depot, Hyatt, Cadbury, Trident, Labatt, General Motors, Microsoft, and DaimlerChrysler. These applications range from simple client side HTML pages to high-end, media-rich, and data-driven e-learning, e-marketing, and e-commerce environments. Currently I am working for the Walt Disney Internet Group, in Hollywood.

Before working at Disney I was a Senior Flash Platform Engineer on the Yahoo! Flash Platform team. While on the Flash Platform team at Yahoo! I assisted in the first ASTRA release and wrote numerous articles for the Yahoo! Flash Developer Network. I built the AS3 Yahoo! Maps Communication Kit and presented it at 360 Flex in San Jose. I architected the first generation Yahoo! Flash Badging Kit, a light weight AS3 architecture that allows non developers to rapidly build custom Flash badges using only basic mark up. I also built components and trained multiple internal teams at Yahoo! on Actionscript 2/3, Flash and Flex 2 best practices, security, and optimization.

Throughout my career, I have used Flash, Cold Fusion, PHP, ASP, ASP.NET, PERL, and XML to build SCORM compliant learning objects, learning management systems, online and offline data driven catalog systems, and customized high impact e-business solutions with product management and transaction tracking systems. I’ve worked in IntraLearn, and other industry standard online learning management systems. I have also been involved in the design and development of custom learning management systems. My database experience has centered around, but has not been limited to, SQL server and Access. I have successfully taken on the role of Webmaster for numerous company Internets, Intranets, and Extranet sites.

I am very proficient in many design programs (including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash). Although I am very knowledgeable in all Macromedia Products (Studio 8), I do prefer to code most of my Actionscript, Cold Fusion, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, DHTML, PHP, and ASP by hand. I am also very adept in using many graphic production tools such as Fireworks, Debabelizer and ImageReady.

As the Senior Solutions Developer at Innovasium Inc, I was the lead developer on most sites I worked on. Most of the sites I worked on were developed in Flash using Flash Remoting, Cold Fusion, and Microsoft SQL Server on the back-end. While at Innovasium I was an integral part of the team that developed a custom Flash content management system. Multiple clients logged into a single interface and could update their sites content using a custom rich text editor, upload and resize images, set up secure content zones with unique logins and permissions and edit their site using tools usually found only in standard page based CMS’s.

As a Senior Interactive Designer at Mosaic Marketing and Technology (formerly McGill Multimedia), I performed many Information Architecture duties including content management, content creation, editing for interactive media, goal verification, requirement gathering, content definition, usability testing, and documenting the functional specifications of many different multimedia applications. As an Information Architect, I ensured that all applications adhered to human interface interaction principles. I also acted as a liaison between the client and the internal production team in the early stages of a project, ensuring all technical and business requirements were feasible and learning objects adhered to SCORM standards.

In my role as a Group Supervisor at Mosaic, I managed a team of Technical Interactive Designers, Graphic Designers and Developers. As their manager I was responsible for scheduling, resource management, task reviews, process development and enhancements, employee reviews, employee career development plans, and new employee hiring. I believe good employee morale and communication are key factors to successful, creative work; therefore, positive feedback was part of my daily routine.

I’m a team player. I am a motivated individual who enjoys taking on new challenges and learning new technologies. I have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and excellent project management skills. I am well organized and a proficient multi-tasker. I have strong problem solving skills such as the ability to use technology in creative ways to meet unique project requirements. I love to be challenged and I always have a positive outlook no matter how tight the deadline is.
